HVBIA
Privacy policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
The Hudson Valley Building Industry Association (“HVBIA,” “we,” or “us”) runs this website, hvbia.org, for our members and the local building community. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Member account and profile. When you join or sign in, we collect your name, company, and email, and a password that is stored in encrypted (hashed) form. You may also add optional details such as phone, trades, website, a short bio, and a logo for your directory listing.
- Event registrations. When you register for an event, we collect your name, email, company, and phone.
- Forms you submit. Our member welcome survey and sponsorship inquiry form collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, company, email, and message.
- Newsletter sign-ups, which are handled through our email provider’s sign-up form.
- Usage data. Basic, aggregated analytics about how the site is used (for example, pages visited and general device or browser type), collected through Google Analytics.
How we use your information
We use the information to run your membership and directory listing, register you for events, respond to your inquiries, send association updates you have asked for, and understand and improve how the site is used. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies: one to keep you signed in to your member account, and Google Analytics cookies to measure site usage. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, though some member features may not work without the sign-in cookie.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the site – website hosting, our database, email delivery, and analytics – and only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information if required by law. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties for their own marketing.
Your choices
You can review or update your member profile at any time by signing in. To access, correct, or delete your information, or to unsubscribe from our emails, contact us using the details below (email unsubscribe links are also included in every message we send).
Security
The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us.
